Character Deletion / Character Transfer July 1 debrief

Initially when the issue was reported, and tested by Admin it did appear that your character was deleted, and now being forced to create a NEW Level 1 character, and no option to use the character you just transferred with, nor any ability to abort. It was shortly after discovered the character was NOT deleted, but stored in the cloud, and became unreadable (but was there). Thus the Event name changed from Character Deletion, to Character Transfer

We were previously updating this event in the #announcements channel. It was intended for occasional use, on server/community changes.
This character transfer issue, while __could__ effect travel to/from any map, it seems to have been focused more around the travel to/from **Genesis 2**
As we tried to post updates through out the process, posting them here in the #event-discussions channel seem more appropriate.
As we may end up having community discussions, and can't do that in the announcement channel.
Another benefit of **Event** is there is a text, voice, and live stream channel tied together.


In the 24 hours surrounding the character transfer issue.

- A mod to improve the OSD on Extinction was added, enabled

- The allowance of cave building, was enabled

- The population of the cluster has grown significantly

   In May (before the boom) the server already underwent a

   hardware upgrade, and placed Genesis 2 on it own separate

   hardware for performance improvements.

- Activities that seemed alright for the population then, may now be

  getting overworked again. The cluster is not going away, and

  expectation is that before the weekend, a resolution is arrived at.


Our testing was not limited to "just trying doing this or that"

The backend of the servers, has extra paid software, to monitor and manage all aspects of server hardware, and maps operations


We worked hard to identify and correct "the issue" diagnosing logs, and server performance to the early AM of Saturday July 2
Some settings have been adjusted, and the possibility of the servers just restarting at their usual overnight time, may have allowed things to be normal once again. 
Though we are not ruling out there could be contributing factors to the event, and may need to revisit this.

While we are not expecting this issue to arise again
We feel that travel to/from any map can be done normally once again

Travel to/from there is possible and not disabled

No one has reported any issues today, July 2
Testing of character transfers to/from are working normal
